Professor Viktor Mayer-Schönberger's new book, 'Delete – The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age' raises some interesting concerns…namely – do we really need to remember all that? I found this reading to be rather frightening. Last week at the OII we were treated to an enchanting presentation by Viktor Mayer-Schonberger on his new book 'Delete – The Virtue of Forgetting in a Digital Age'. But Viktor Mayer-Schonberger, author of Delete: The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age, argues that now is the time to reintroduce our ability to forget. Hence the great need for 'delete – the virtue of forgetting in the digital age'… Viktor Mayer-Schnonberger… imperfect perhaps but an enforced removal of data is critically important. Viktor discussed his new book, Delete - The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age, and kicked off a book tour that will take him to several US locations (I've listed upcoming talks below). This particular story has been told thousands of times and is also the intro to the facinating book “Delete. It is called “Delete: The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age” by Viktor Mayer-Schonberger. The Times Higher Education Supplement reviews it and says “his case against digital memory is humanist. The indelible digital memory can be as unforgiving as it is helpful. In fact, he's written a book called: “Delete: The Virtue Of Forgetting In The Digital Age”.
